Thomas Finsterbusch is originally from Berlin, Germany, but he has lived in the San Francisco Bay Area since 2001. He serves the San Mateo and Santa Clara county housing markets in Northern California, where he focuses on clients who have generated wealth through tech and are looking to diversify their investments with real estate. Thomas is passionate about incorporating hard facts and rational analysis into his real estate transactions and uses his extensive background in technology to connect with and best serve his clients.
Thomas’ immediate family includes an architect, the CEO of a construction company, and a real estate developer. That exposure, coupled with the knowledge he’s gained over the years, has granted him a thorough understanding of the housing industry. Prior to his career in real estate, Thomas was a partner at Gradient Ventures, Google’s artificial intelligence venture arm. Through this position, he created Gradient Ventures’ signature startup residency program. Before that, Thomas was the co-founder and CTO at Cape, which raised $18 million in venture capital investment. He also spent more than two years at Google and Google[x], specializing in large-scale machine learning and personalized recommender systems.
Thomas received his bachelor’s degree in computer science from the University of California, San Diego, and his master’s degree in artificial intelligence from the University of Texas at Austin. While in graduate school, he co-founded 3DS, a successful global nonprofit promoting student entrepreneurship, which has led to the formation of more than 150 new companies that have collectively raised over $200 million in funding. Thomas is passionate about encouraging and fostering the potential of the next generation of entrepreneurs. When he’s not working or advising startups, Thomas enjoys heliboarding and playing golf.
